Featured Fort Lauderdale

There is SO much to learn and love about our fair city. We thought you would enjoy a weekly does of "did you know's" to whet your water-cooler conversations.

SAVE THE DATE - SATURDAY, JUNE 11TH

The Fort Lauderdale Children's Business Fair is back next month!

Support the opportunity for children to launch their very own startup business!

Our young entrepreneurs will be developing a brand, creating a product or service, building a marketing strategy, and then opening for customers at our half-day marketplace.

We will host booth spaces on Saturday, June 11th from 10:00am – 2:00pm, in the Atrium entrance of the Museum of Discovery and Science (MODS).

This event is hosted by Acton Academy Fort Lauderdale, the Museum of Discovery and Science, and with the generous support of our sponsors, donors and volunteers. We all believe that principled entrepreneurs are heroes and role models for the next generation.

The Children's Business Fair is open to all families who want their child (ages 5-14) to have the opportunity to:

  1. Make something with his or her own hands
  2. Sell it (safely) to a stranger
  3. Experience the freedom (and responsibility) of having a little extra spending money as a reward

*Note: For this specific Children's Business Fair, we are celebrating World Oceans Day. Each business will be displaying products or services that are: Ocean-friendly (not harmful) and/or Ocean-themed.

So... You Think You Know Fort Lauderdale?

There is SO much to learn and love about our fair city. We thought you would enjoy a weekly does of "did you know's" to whet your water-cooler conversations.

Fort Lauderdale is home to one of the busiest cruise ports in the world. Port Everglades, just south of Fort Lauderdale, is the 3rd busiest cruise port in the world. Accommodating almost 4 million passengers a year, the port sits just behind Port of Miami and Port Canaveral in terms of passengers, and is home to the World's Largest Cruise Ship, the Wonder of the Seas.
